"We'll Be Back!!"
In its latest action to convince Senator Feinstein to vote for The Employee Choice Act, the L.A. County Fed. assembled a consortium of union members from various trades and locals to debut their latest video ad that highlights the plight of many of our armed forces veterans when it comes to finding decent paying jobs after being discharged. The video (which was played on a giant screen from the street in front of the senator's office) was a very emotionally moving piece. Several veterans from various branches of the military testify to Labor Secretary Hilda Solis at a recent town hall meeting about their personal struggles upon returning home to poor paying jobs. Our veterans who signed up with their signature to join the armed forces and risked their lives for this country should be able to exercise that same right by signing their name to join or form a union. Senator Feinstein who was a co-sponsor of the labor bill under the Bush administration, has of late been riding the fence and has not publicly endorsed it since President Obama took office, amid what is strongly perceived by many as political pressure from her business constituents to vote against it.
The Employee Free Choice Act with out a doubt is the biggest, most controversial piece of labor legislation to hit the senate floor in generations. A lot of people have been fighting the good fight for a long time now, trying to level the playing field by insisting on real labor law reform that protects workers rights to collectively bargain. I have been involved for a little over a year now and I am at awe with my opportunity to contribute during this historic time in labor movement history. Help me get this video in front of as many as you can. Blog about it, post it, tweet it, embed it, Digg it, email it............. Watch It!!!
L.A. County Federation Of Labor continues to fight the good fight!
