It was 47 years-ago today that Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. stood on the steps of the Capitol and delivered his famous, "I have a dream" speech." That speech was given at "The march for jobs and freedom," there were 250,000 people participating.

As many of us remember Dr. King as a hero, a leader among leaders -- we must not forget that just a few days ago a hardworking cab driver in NYC was brutally stabbed for being Muslim.

We must realize that, on this anniversary day of this great speech, Glenn Beck and Sarah Palin will converge near the same steps Dr. King spoke, and spill their "idea" of social justice -- which ironically is only a social justice for the conservative right wing wealthy people of this country.

We have so much work to do -- and today we should consider what that work really is. When it comes to segregation in our rank-and-file, at the top at our international unions, or anywhere on any street, it is incumbent on us to not fall victim of the sickness that racism is, but be leaders and agents of change.
