Carhartt Inc Closing 2 more Union plants in Kentucky.

I have worked there for 9 years and my wife was there 12 years and made supervisor 3 years ago NOW we are both going to be a out of a job. I just dont know what to do. We were told last friday that we are shutting down in mid march but everything is moving so fast I feel it will be much sooner. Im lost , I dont know what to do. I feel like a deer in the headlights. I dont know which way to move.

Im just looking for some supporting words I guess. Im scared to death since there are no jobs in my county I will have to drive alot longer to get a job and for less pay.  Just wanted to ramble on cause I dont know who to talk to.

You are welcome here

This news really sucks. I am sorry that this is happening to both you and your wife.

Is Carhartt reopening somewhere else - or are they just closing down due to lack of business?

As you are online, looking for jobs, make sure you visit UnionJobs.com. They have two sections of their site, one for union staff and the other for people in the trades. Go look and see if there is something in there that you can apply to.

Please keep in touch with us any updates you might have going forward.

Don't feel alone Brother. At this time the printing trades are in the worst shape I have seen them in and that has been well over 20 years. We have over 300 good folks out in one Local alone right now. Some are even looking at relocating to find work. For the most part thing are looking up for spring, not that it will help over the winter. Good luck Brother.

They are closing for lack business is what all of us were told, but they also have a site in Hanson ky where they just doubled the size of the building. So they are taking our work and moving it there. There are just a few places in know that any carhartt clothing is still made in the USA. Im sure with time that will also come to an end.
