Labour Union- Struggle At Anytime
Submitted by tom2000 on Thu, 11/20/2008 - 11:20am.
A trade union or labor union is an organization of workers who have banded together to achieve common goals in key areas such as wages, hours, and working conditions. The trade union, through its leadership, bargains with the employer on behalf of union members (rank and file members) and negotiates labor contracts (Collective bargaining) with employers. This may include the negotiation of wages, work rules, complaint procedures, rules governing hiring, firing and promotion of workers, benefits, workplace safety and policies. The agreements negotiated by the union leaders are binding on the rank and file members and the employer and in some cases on other non-member workers. ______________________________ Tom maine drug rehab |

unions for the common good
If it weren't for unions, the balanace of power and the middle class would dissapear. It is the union mebers that do the work not the CEO's and managers who get ridiculous wages and benefits far outweighing the avergae union worker.
This union dissolution attempt is nothing more than an attempt to eliminate the middle class. It was told once by certain member connected to th white house that there is too much wealth in America. one way to eliminate that wealth is to get rid of the unions which provide a fair wage, benefits, safety and health policy and many other reasonable benefits and rights.
As for the unions, it is the few that are becomming corrupt by the promise of management. The greed factor encompasses their lives and they forget WE are in this together. But when the ME gets in the way, WE all will eventually will fail. I had workers treated differently by management. Allowed to take time off anytime, do unethical things, and simply get away with things most workers would be terminated for all in an attempt to get these workers to agree with management and forget their fellow worker. All about the ME and WE, the union majority get screwed. The union needs to begin weeding out these so called "BACK Stabbers" and holding them accountable for violating union trust. We are supposed to be bound together by common goals and initiatives and those few need to be burnt at the stake for they are jeopardizing all of our jobs and what we ahev worked so hard for over the years. I would give anything to see management or a CEO climb a pole on a 10 degree winters days or dig a ditch when the rain is driving and the temperature drops below freezing or over 90 degree red hot. Just once they need to walk in labors shoes.
And as for safety and health, that has been a dwindling right where OSHA a one time enforcement agency is now helping management instead of protecting the worker. Whats going on here. Safety is in your hands now because the leverage to force compliance is all but gone. Maybe Obama will turn OSHA around and make them the regulatory agency they once were created to be. I was seriously injured on the job and no one cared. I made it through a high voltage electrical shock exposure and now fight for ssafety in the workplace. But i found found that OSHA is not on board. Did you know that millions of state dollars are spent annually providing money to companies for safety. Yes thats right, money that could go to your family and mine are spent on unneccessary safety programs presented by the state. I thought the state and OSHA were to protect us and the company was supposed hire their own safety, I thought thats how democracy works in business yet the government continues to give tax money for safety initiatives that are bullshit! The companies still get away with the fatality and numerous disability cases they intentionally create. When budgets are tight safety is always the first to go, then maintenance, then the place goes to shit while the CEO and upper management still collects their millions annually.
Guys, WE need to get together now more than ever. For those few who take the bait that management throws your way, one day you'll get yours. Management is so self centered they eat their own and spit them out eventually espeically when push comes to shove. I have seen it and still see it. i wonder what would happen to America if the working man put his hands behind his back threw up his nose for just two days at each request to perform a task. How strong and great would America be then! Imagaine the CEO digging a ditch or sweating on a highway project. NOT!
