I thought it was important to set up a page that explained the donation button and why folks might start seeing advertisements on Union Review.

The short answer is … for money?

The longer and better-explained answer is that I am doing Union Review entirely in my free-time. Everything on the site, thus far, has been donated to Union Review by very talented people who believe in what I am doing. It is only now, with certain technical features I see as upgrades that I need to start forking over dollars for programming labor.

To that end, my personal dream is to work on this site more than in my free-time. In order to do that I would have to cut down on my other work – I am a freelance writer and marketing professional on a contract with one main company. I also earn dollars handling small and intermittent jobs that come in which require some writing, editing, or technical materials created. I thought that if people appreciate this site and want to help me build out this community even larger than it is now, they would not mind helping out if and when they could.

In order to not put a burden on everyday working people to assist financially, I have spent some time to learn about advertising on sites like this one. There are ways to control Google Ads, and post very good looking ads, like the one for Artontheline.com, for very affordable and reasonable rates. I am keen to see this kind of stuff happen because if I can earn any dollars from Union Review, it will keep me away from having to focus too far from anything else – again, an optimum goal for me.

As with everything else I have done with this site, I am opening this up for discussion. If anyone has other ideas that they would like to share, thoughts about me doing this, anything … please share them with me. Even if we agree to disagree, I have no problem hearing you out.
