Thanks

Thanks for these. My Grandfather was a New York Iron Worker. I did a little bit of iron work and it was not for me. I got out on the iron and was very pleased with myself, but then they expected me to work. I felt like I should get paid for standing there with my tools. I was never able to resolve the problem to my satisfaction, so I quit. I still enjoy watching Iron Workers and explaining what's going on to my friends. Coincidentally, just had a visit from a friend who was an ironworker back in the '60's.

Your welcome Jon

Yeah I always say that an ironworker has more b@lls in his pinky than I have in my body. When I first got into the business, ironworkers were exempt from safety harness protection and I can almost understand a lot of why, they do get in the way and sometimes there just isn't anything to tie off to. The rules have changed a bit since I took my OSHA coarse. Then again, the rule have changed throughout our history, once upon a time they used to throw hot rivets to one another from beam to beam, now they use nuts and bolts, and you have to see some of the bolts that are used nowadays on the tower cranes, they are 2 inches in diameter and about 8 inches long, they got 5 hashes on the tops of em, they are real heavy duty.

Big props to those guys at the top, on steel jobs they got to get in first or none of us can work.
