Union Review Glitches and Oddities

Over the last few weeks I have received countless emails from people wondering why they were getting email alerts from Union Review. They'd get snippets of something somone posted to the site - and usually with a link. They'd click on that link to see what it was all about -- only to find that they dind't have immediate access, so what the heck is going on?

The deal is that we set up the Forums on the site, finally -- and people are using them. The Forums were picking up on a module that was put in place nearly two years ago, NOTIFICATIONS ... most of you filled this out when you first got a username and a password. Because we just recently launched the forums, you did not get any massive emails ... until now.

It was a glitch and an oversight on my part and I categorically apologize to everyone this annoyed and frustrated. With the help of a programmer friend, I was able to disable this from happening again. This means that if you do continue to get these advanced notifications from the site, PLEASE let me know so that I can do some more digging.

UnionReview.com is meant as a place to share news and views of the union movement. It is open to anyone, unionized or not -- and we continue to host some incredible and engaging news items that affect our lives; the last thing I'd want to see happen is a general or regular reader get so annyoed at the technology that they just have to delete their user name and password.

We move on. Please tell me if you experience any other issues.

Solidarity,

-Richard

How to fix your settings

If you sign into the site with your username and password, please take a minute to see if you are signed up to get notifications from the RSS feeder or anything else. Un-do whatever you don't want ... If you cannot remember your password, you can request a new one. If all else fails, of course, get with me.

Thanks.
