Union Review Gets It
A big shout out and congratulations to our friend and fellow labor blogger Richard Negri. The founder of Union Review, a blog of labor movement news and views, reports record-breaking and growing traffic to the site that he started in his spare time in 2005.
As he asks in his post about Union Review’s growing popularity:
Why is a simple report about Union Review’s record-breaking stats union news? Because it shows that when given the right forum, working people will show that they care about trade unionism in the United States and abroad.
The number of unique visitors and overall hits have been growing. Just in the first 18 days of October, the number of unique visitors, people who return to the site, was 4,006, surpassing all September’s then-record-breaking month. The number of daily hits to Union Review is running between 15,000 and 20,000 Negri says,
That’s a lot for a little ol’ blog like this one.
Negri says some serious networking, endless e-mail messages and bulletins have helped, along with the hard work of frequent contributors and volunteers Charles Lesette and Joe. W.
Both are administrators now of the site and their dedication and assistance has also tremendously impacted how far and wide this site has gone in a short period of time.
This is also happening because it is needed! A little more than a couple years back, when this site was on a different platform, I found the tremendous void in labor-related media and communications. I bitched and moaned for a long time and then worked to do something about it … this is not to blow smoke up my own butt, as much as it feels good to be right about something for a change.
We agree—Good work all.
