Screen Actors in solidarity with striking writers, will not be at Golden Globe awards
LOS ANGELES (AFP) — Hollywood actors will boycott this month's Golden Globe Awards in a show of support for striking writers, the actors union said Friday, dealing a blow to the glittering red carpet extravaganza. Screen Actors Guild (SAG) President Alan Rosenberg said in a statement there was "unanimous agreement" among actors not to cross picket lines set up by writers locked in a bitter dispute with film and television producers. Rosenberg said the boycott would cover all nominees up for acting awards in the January 13 event, regarded as the second most important awards show in Hollywood after the Oscars. It would also cover stars acting as presenters. The decision means that nominated A-listers such as Julia Roberts, Tom Hanks and George Clooney are all likely to steer clear of the Globes, greatly diminishing one of the highlights of Hollywood's awards season |

this is
an excellent show of solidarity.
I anxiously wait for the fallout of this whole battle of worker issues. I hope it will be a catalyst for the labor movement as far as public opinion. who better to get out our message than a writer for the media?
Never cross a picket line.....NEVER
What a show of support!!

Another group of writers we need not forget about
So lets see
the SAG honors the WGA picket line and 5 of their own Leno, O'Brien, Kimmel, Colbert and Stewart cross the line to go back.
The utmost disgrace indeed,
Leno suprised me
O,Brian and Kimmel are no- talent sh*t sticks, Colbert and Stewart have shown us what they are made of, the phony money grubbin. a**holes.

UPDATE 1-Cruise close to deal, Globes unclear-sources
LOS ANGELES, Jan 6 (Reuters) - A film company run by actor Tom Cruise was close to an agreement with the striking Writers Guild of America, while the Golden Globes awards show broadcast was in limbo, people close to the matter said on Sunday.
The deal between United Artists -- run by Cruise and partner Paula Wagner, and owned by Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer -- would be a first for a movie company during the 2-month strike, but would be similar to a pact reached between the guild and Worldwide Pants Inc., the television production company owned by David Letterman.
The source said on condition of anonymity that the United Artists deal could be announced as soon as Monday.
United Artists and WGA had no immediate comment.

anyone see the Globes?
I tuned to the awards show between the NH primary last night. This was a very important night for the WGA. It brought home the strike to the living-rooms of America, the last time something of this magnitude happened was in the 70's when the Teamsters stopped their trucks dead on the highway in protest of the high gas prices.
I predict the producers will be at the negotiating table soon.
I also predict the advance of the labor movement in 08'
BTW did anyone hear the rumble of discontent coming from NH last night?
We will be heard.
