Take Action In the Name of Dr. King, Tell New Era Cap That We Demand Justice TODAY!

Last week the Teamsters posted to Union Review and other sites about an issue taking place at New Era cap in Mobile, Alabama.

As today is Dr. Martin Luther King's birthday, the Teamsters are in Mobile fighting for the justice the workers at New Era deserve.

New Era, which manufactures fitted baseball caps; boasts Major League Baseball as one of its biggest clients, and markets to the Hip-Hop African-American community, is also a company that practices a fair amount of racism. The majority of the workers at its Mobile plant are African-American women, the majority of whom have been passed up for any kind of promotion regardless of their time with the company. While that is pretty bad, nothing can justify a pregnant worker being told that if she goes into labor while on the job, the boss would bring her a bucket and a towel ... what? Yea, it is 2008 and this kind of nonsense is still happening.

Where is Dr. King when you need him? Well, we all know his message and we can carry out his work today in his honor. How? By going over to the Take Action Link and sending a note to the CEO of New Era. Tell this CEO that you are one of many working Americans that will not stand for this kind of worker and Civil Rights abuse.
