Unfair Labor Practices Force Hilton Hotel Strike

Citing unfair labor practices, Teamster employees at Hilton Suites on Chicago's Magnificent Mile have chosen to strike against the hotel, effective this past Friday.

Teamsters Local 727 has officially filed charges of unfair labor practices against the hotel, specifying the failure of Hilton management to bargain in good faith with the union. Allegations include Hilton's refusal to provide essential documents to support claims made by management of economic poverty, among other filings.

"Our members have been patiently working with Hilton since March on a new, three-year contract, but the company has finally made its unprofessional conduct clear," said John T. Coli, Secretary-Treasurer of Local 727. "In failing to hold up its end of the negotiation process, the company has consistently denied concessions to its hardworking employees for reasons it cannot substantiate."

As the union attempts to continue negotiations with Hilton management, union employees, working as door staff and bellmen at the hotel, will be striking around the clock. Hilton Suites Chicago is located at 198 E. Delaware Place on the Magnificent Mile.
