Union's On The Rise - Some Recent Victories - Part 2

After reading Richards story about the 28,000 newly unionized UFT members here in NY I had to chime in about some smaller victories . Continuing the ongoing "Unions on the rise" which is a story I wrote some months back about some successful organizing drives , today we have learned that "slot techs" at Atlantic City's Tropicana have voted to become UAW members , the yes votes tallied 90% . In another win for unions an administrative law judge of the NLRB has dismissed election objections filed by Bally’s .

The largest victory for US casino workers has actually been won in a business owned by the Mashantucket Pequot Indians , the NLRB has ruled that casino dealers at Foxwoods (the largest private employer in the state of Connecticut) have the right to a free and fair union representation election. Community, the UAW and many local officials helped in this campaign .
